Greetings APO Folks - Forgive me for the very late minutes; I am very new at this secretary business and will improve. The last meeting was Oct. 10th with Will, Cindy, Richard, Mary Ann, Amy, Joe, and myself attending. We started by discussing whether first year members or new alum should have reduced dues, but decided against that course. We then moved on to discuss possible service projects and calendar planning. We will have another Barnes and Noble gift wrapping Dec. 16th (a Sat.) from 9am - 9 pm. We will have a sign up for shifts at the next meeting. We gave $76 to the Red Cross to support the current recovery effort. I suggested that we individually give blood in wake of the Sept. 11th tragedy. I also suggested that we all bring 3 ideas for service opportunities to the next meeting, since we seem to be running a bit dry for ideas. Cindy is continuing to manage our Project Linus blanket project, and Nicole may be looking into a Habitat for Humanity project. We kicked around a lot of other ideas, such as helping out with haunted houses and halloween carnivals that college chapters were putting on, or the festivities put on by the Boys and Girls club. The ideas of helping out the YMCA or Adopt a Highway came up. Richard said he will look into how we can help out NCSU in some way and Cindy said she will call Duke to see if they need help. The regional conference was last weekend in Williamsburg. We discussed a possible dinner and a movie social activity Nov. 16th. Joe stated that we have $489.13 in the chapter account with no debits and no credits. There will be some money outgoing for the picnic and the donation to the Red Cross, but $50 also came in from dues. Cindy is selling some really cute flags she has made for $2 a piece. The proceeds go to the Red Cross. Anyone interested in selling or buying them should contact her. Cindy, I would like 6 - my students have really liked mine. The next meeting is Nov. 14th at 7:00 pm. I am uncertain about the time, so please contact me if it is different and I will e-mail it out. I will be unable to attend due to an awards banquet, but Joe will take notes for me. Take care of yourselves, Heather Beiras
