Email Lists

An email list (or exploder or reflector) is a mechanism to send a message to a lot of people via email. Any time you send a message to the list, it will be forwarded to everyone subscribed to the list.

What Lists Exist

There are several email lists Brothers in Section 80 may be interested in:

SECTION80:
This list is intended for discussion among chapters, petitioning groups, alumni, and staff of Section 80. It is also used to post announcements of events. The list's address is SECTION80@YAHOOGROUPS.COM. Also note that chapter presidents are automatically subscribed to this list.
aporegion3:
This list is intended for discussion among chapters, petitioning groups, alumni, and staff of Region III. It is also used to post announcements of events. The list's address is aporegion3@yahoogroups.com. Also note that chapter presidents are automatically subscribed to this list.
APO-L:
This list is intended for discussion among chapters, petitioning groups, alumni, and staff of the entire nation. Many people ask for suggestions or discuss ways to implement policies. Brothers congratulate newly initiated pledges and chapters, and announce projects and conferences that are of regional or national interest. Brothers can ask questions about national policies and procedures; responses, however, are NOT the official answer; for that, you should contact the appropriate sectional, regional, or national volunteer, or the National Office. The list gets a moderate amount of traffic. The list's address is APO-L@IUPUI.EDU.
APOSOC-L:
This list is intended for questions and discussions of a less serious nature. The list gets a heavy amount of traffic. The list's address is APOSOC-L@LISTS.PSU.EDU.
TAAA:
This list is intended for discussion among the members of the Triangle Area Alumni Association. It is also used to post announcements of events. The list's address is TAAA@SERVICEUSA.ORG.

Other Sections in Region III also have email lists:

apo79@yahoogroups.com
SEC81-L@LISTSERV.VT.EDU
APO83-L@yahoogroups.com
section84@yahoogroups.com

Some lists are intended for staff use and are not open to students:

SEC80STAFF:
This list is intended for discussion among the staff of Section 80. It can be used to post announcement of events. The list's address is SEC80STAFF@YAHOOGROUPS.COM.
R3STAFF:
This list is intended for discussion among the staff of Region III and its sections. It can be used to post announcements of events. The list's address is R3STAFF@YAHOOGROUPS.COM.

To subscribe to SECTION80, simply send a blank email to section80-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

IRC

IRC is a wonderful way to interact with APO members throughout the world. It is probably the oldest existing Internet chat forum. IRC can be run over almost any type of Internet connection and programs are available for almost ANY computer.

The APO IRC channel is: #aposoc on EFNet

Other Resources

In addition to email lists and web pages, there are numerous other resources on the web.

Region III has two sites that may be of particular interest: a service project database for sharing service project ideas as well as a listing of workshops and people that have given them before. They are both found on the Region III web page. Be sure and check them out!

The national webpage has many national documents on line. These include the pledge manual, the national by-laws, the national membership policies, the national pledging standards, and the national risk management policy. Also look for information on even more email lists, web pages, and other information.
